NABA Butterfly Count

Tishomingo National Wildlife Refuge will host the annual North American Butterfly Association (NABA) butterfly count on Friday June 14, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The public is invited to participate. Become a citizen scientist and explore the refuge in the company of butterfly enthusiasts, refuge staff and experienced NABA surveyors.
Bring your lunch, sunscreen, bug repellent, water and binoculars if you have them. The refuge will have field guides and binoculars on hand to loan out to survey volunteers. Dress for a day out in the weather wear long pants and sturdy boots suitable for off-trail hiking. Transportation may be provided depending upon the number of volunteers that participate. Some groups might caravan/carpool in their own vehicles to designated sites.
Please call the refuge to register by June 11 and/or to receive more information. NABA Field Observer fees will be paid on behalf of new participants by Tishomingo Refuge Education and Ecology Society (TREES).
