Come fill up the ambulance – Published in the Nov. 23-29 edition of the C-D

I would like to thank everyone who has come out to ‘light up the town’ by decorating city poles and businesses. Sunday was a lot of fun, as we set up to give away hot chocolate, only for it to be nearly 70 degrees! Lisa and John Rose, Mark and Tammy Parish, and Cassie Sallee were incredibly helpful – bringing supplies, ladders, and a smile to get Tishomingo ready for the holiday season. I’d also like to thank our city employees for hanging the old ‘swags’ up. Those candy canes and trees do more for this city than most would think. I can’t wait to see the rest go up as we get closer to Christmas!

Small Business Saturday is this weekend and we are ready to send shoppers to local businesses! American Express has set us up with some great promo material so please send me any information on sales that will be going on this weekend. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday approaching, we need to give customers a reason to stay local and shop small. I will help however I can!

Next Wednesday, November 29th, the Women’s Business Center will be hosting a walking tour of Tishomingo, which will start at Latte Da Coffee House around noon. Main Street businesses can expect to see this group anytime until 5:00 p.m. When we come through we may ask you to tell the group about your business, what made you decide to become an entrepreneur in Tishomingo, and a tip or two on how to be successful. Barbara Rackley and I walked downtown a couple of weeks ago, letting many of the owners know about the event, but here is a little reminder.

The 30th and 1st, the Johnston County EMS will be ‘Filling the Ambulance’ at Sooners and Dollar General. Donations of new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable foods will be accepted and everything will go to Johnston County families in need. Items can also be dropped off at the EMS office at 604 E. 24th Street.

Tickets for Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 2nd can be purchased at the Chamber office or Kedford Co. Boutique for $5 each up until the day of, and then they will be $7 at the door at the Chickasaw Community Center from 8:00-11:00 a.m. We cannot wait to see the kid’s syrupy faces when they meet Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Also, the Chamber is selling raffle tickets for a 6-foot Family Stocking! Thanks to some great sponsors, the homemade stocking will be filled with toys and board games, restaurant gift certificates, and other items that the whole family will enjoy! We will be set up at various events but come by the Chamber, too! Chances are $1 each or 6 for $5. Buy some for yourself or for a family in need!
