Health crisis inspires launch of new business (Dr Smith Tire and Auto Clinic) – Published in the Sept. 10-16 edition of the Johnston County Sentinel
This week’s Spotlight is on Dr Smith Tire and Auto Clinic. As a couple, David and Rana Smith decided to step out in faith by opening a business. The decision came after Rana was diagnosed with breast cancer in July of 2019. David retired from the Michelin Plant in Ardmore shortly after her diagnosis, so he could be with her every step of the way during her treatments. He never missed one scan, one doctor’s visit, never missed a single chemo treatment, was with her for surgery and targeted therapy treatments, although he was not allowed to go inside, so he sat in his vehicle in the parking lot waiting for her!
He took his retirement funds and invested it into building a shop behind their home in Emet, as a way to be able to be home to spend more time with his wife while also providing a way to earn an income. Today, Rana is cancer free and they have been hard at work together, as they venture into owning their own business. They have faith that this business will be their way to earn an income while helping the community that they both love so much! Rana says that she knows God will bless this business because they are doing it together and with good intentions…to serve! It is their goal to give you the best care at the best price. Together, they want to provide honest and fair work. Your vehicle’s safety is their priority!
The clinic offers oil changes, new tires, tire rotation and flat repair, brakes, struts, general auto repair and maintenance services, as well as for lawn mowers, 4wheelers and all-terrain vehicles.
“Here at Dr Smith Tire and Auto Clinic, we truly have a servant’s heart. Our favorite scripture in the Bible is Luke 6:38, which says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; pressed down, and shaken together and running over into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.””
They are always searching for ways to support the community and help make it a better place to raise our kids!
The Smiths plan to add to their building to make it more visible and accessible from the highway. However, with the future plans of the highway through the area, they are waiting to see how that will affect their plans.
“Our goal is to give our customers an affordable price with honest work. We would love to earn our customer’s repeat business with our integrity. We feel if we are fair and treat you right, you will tell others about us and keep coming back!”
