Latte Da Coffee House celebrates ninth anniversary – Published in the Nov. 28-Dec. 4 edition of the Johnston County Sentinel
This week’s Member Spotlight is on Latte Da Coffee House & Bistro, which just so happened to open 9 years ago this week! Owned by serial entrepreneur, Kristie Robnett, this business came to life with a soft opening on a cold day, November 22, 2010. About 13 years ago, Kristie and daughter, Connor, loved going over to Hot Shots in Durant, and decided to bring a quaint little coffee house of their own to Tishomingo. Against many doubts that it would work, they pushed to bring in something different.
“I remember talking to Seigel Heffington several times before starting the process of Latte Da and he was so encouraging and supportive, talking about growth for the community and wanted so badly for it to happen,” said Robnett.
The time finally came to name the small business. With tons of funny names on the table, Amy Dodd, Kristie’s daughter-in-law, said, “How about Latte Da?” Robnett exclaimed that she almost cried because her grandmother’s favorite thing to say was “La di da”, and so they felt this would be a special way to honor her memory.
Latte Da has received Small Business of the Year from the JCCC and was featured in the March/April 2017 issue of Oklahoma Today Magazine. They currently have six employees with room for growth. Anna Webb is the current store manager and works diligently on menu planning weekly. They are always looking for new recipes and ideas for soups, salads, and coffees.
Business has been its’ best this year and 2020 awaits new adventures and opportunities for growth. Robnett noted, “The key is to never let ideas fall to the wayside, and never think you have gone as far as you can in your business. That’s when businesses start to fail.”
Latte Da is a warm environment that people love to enter for a good meal and a place to visit with friends and family just to chat. Staff love to visit with their customers and tell them about the neat things to do in town.
You can visit Latte Da at 406 W. Main Street in Tishomingo and is open Mon-Fri, 7A-5:30P and Sat 8A-4P. Visit them on Facebook for specials and meals of the day!
