Member Spotlight Gonzalez Mexican Restaurant
This week’s Member Spotlight is on Gonzalez Mexican Restaurant. When the restaurant first opened, they saw a small community in need of a good Mexican food establishment. The Gonzalez family had been looking for a place to call home and Tishomingo gave them just what they needed. It was a struggle at first, the building they opened in had a great history, but they struggled with been recognized as ‘Gonzalez’ and not one of the previous establishments. Through perseverance, hard work, and excellent food and service, they were able to achieve success and grow to where they are today.
Gonzalez Mexican Restaurant offers a great selection of traditional Mexican food as well as Tex-Mex dishes. They have an outdoor patio (currently not available due to construction). They will also have a bar soon (under construction). “We want to continue to be family-friendly but also provide for our patrons that may be in the search of something stronger than a soft drink. We also have a great selection of Mexican desserts to delight any pallet,” said a member of the Gonzalez family.
The business owners and employees love to help the community when and how they can. There are things they especially like to help with including the Chamber of Commerce’ Breakfast with Santa event. They try to volunteer and donate when possible. They also support regular season and summer sports programs and local athletes for both the public schools and Murray State College. There is something about knowing that they have helped their younger customers to be able to travel for sports as well as help provide their uniforms and sports equipment that they love.
This beloved establishment has grown in Tishomingo. Not only by constructing their own building but by now also expanding to accommodate a bar. Their sister locations are also becoming more numerous throughout Southern Oklahoma. “We do hope to keep growing with Tishomingo so that we may continue to keep providing not only great service, but great food for generations to come.”
