Member Spotlight Murray on Main
This week’s Chamber Member Spotlight is Murray on Main (MOM)! Murray State College, already an anchor and economic driver for the greater Tishomingo area, desired to have a presence on Main Street. They also wanted to make a difference downtown in a time when many buildings sat vacant.
When MSC President Joy McDaniel and others began brainstorming about how to bring Murray State to Main Street, the idea of Murray on Main was born. Former MSC Regent and Tishomingo business owner Roger Clark offered an empty building downtown and the concept turned into a plan of action. Murray on Main in Tishomingo opened its doors in 2012, bringing a new business to the community and creating educational opportunities and an alternative revenue source for the college.
Murray on Main, relocated to 300 W. Main after a great first year, provides students studying management and business a rare look inside the world of retail. Students receive hands-on training as interns and employees of the store, earning college credit and all-important experience.
Murray on Main supports many local initiatives and organizations through sponsorship. With too many to count, we are just very grateful that the Johnston County Chamber is one of them!
The boutique offers women’s apparel, costume jewelry, Brighton, shoes, home décor, MSC apparel and a bridal registry. With beautiful displays in the almost floor-to-ceiling windows, MOM is ready to provide unique gifts for the holidays! The shop is open Monday through Saturday, 10-6pm, and posts merchandise and sales frequently on Facebook and Instagram. Contact Tishomingo store manager, Janie May, with questions at 580-371-0350.

We would like to welcome On The Spot To Go to our membership! A local family starts their delivery service business today (Nov. 1) and we are excited to see how they grow. November and December are always busy months, as we all prepare for the holiday season. The Veterans Day Blue River Trout Derby will be held November 10-11 and Small Business Saturday is November 24th! Be on the lookout for information about the 2nd Annual Breakfast with Santa on December 8th and the Johnston County Christmas Classics parade on December 15th. As always, please give me a call with questions!
