Out and about visiting businesses

It was another great week at the Chamber! New membership means a stronger community and another investment in business and organizational development, so welcome Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park and Tishomingo Ag Booster Club!
Speaking of the Ag Booster Club, did you know that schools and their organizations can join the Chamber as well? We can help with visibility, marketing, and advocacy for your group, church, or other civic organization, just ask how!
Last week I made a point to get out of the office (thank you, Vicki Harbert, for volunteering your time) and began meeting business owners and employees. To the many I already knew, thank you for your encouraging words about the new position I’m in. To those whom I didn’t know, I appreciate your time and your willingness to listen with an open mind. I still have many more to see, but I look forward to each and every visit. Remember, my door is always open too! One visit that sticks out the most is the time I shared with Oma Dell Burns at Heartfelt Flowers. She has a heart to share her wisdom of the years she has served with the Chamber, as a member of the community, and as a true entrepreneur. She had several great ideas that I have taken to heart and hope to build on. Anyone who works with her will learn a lot about flower arranging, but also a great deal about life. I have also found the same to be true about her husband, Butch. They are really great people, I am lucky to know them.
There is much coming up – schools are starting; a commemoration of the beautiful mural at Heartfelt Flowers & Gifts on August 4th at 10:00AM; the ‘Don’t Sweat It’ Hygiene Kit Creation event at INCA on August 11th from 10:00AM-12:00PM; Murray State College’s ‘Rock The Block’ event on August 11th at 6:45PM and a Tax and Marketing Workshop provided by REI’s Women’s Business Center on August 15th. I hope that you will plan to attend a few of these. Community support is always valued when it comes to new and needed initiatives.
One last thing, as a member of the Chamber, you can receive a discounted rate on a yearly, household membership for AirMedCare Network. It is the best thing to have on the worst day of your life, so pick up a member application at the Chamber office!
As always, let me know how I can help you and your business! -Jordyn
