Santa Buck drawing is Saturday – Published in the Dec. 14 – 20 edition of the C-D

How about that Christmas parade last weekend? All of the entries looked fantastic and I am especially fond of all the miniature ponies we have seen in town this year, so cute! We are happy to announce that our winners of Best Float went to Landmark Bank, Murray State College, and the Family Health Center of Southern Oklahoma. Thank you so much for your holiday cheer! I also want to thank Randy McCollom, Rana Smith, and Guyla Hart for acting as emcees for the event, they did a really great job. Thank you to the parade judges, Mayor Tom Lokey and wife Mary, and city councilwoman, Sue Robbins. Dan Shaffer, Scott Clark and Carl Atteberry did wonderfully at getting the parade floats lined up, Mark and Tammy Parish had things rolling on Main Street, and Murray State College was ready to go at Landmark Bank for pictures with Santa and the Grinch. Between the events on December 2nd and 9th, I hope that most have gotten great Christmas photos of their kiddos with Santa. We would hate for you to have to go anywhere else!

This Saturday is the Chamber’s final event of the season, the Santa Bucks Drawing! I will be graduating from Southeastern that day (finally!), but a few of our board members will be present to draw the names of lucky local shoppers! Be at the Pocket Park on Main Street at 4:00 p.m. to listen for your name. You can deposit bucks into the hopper all the way up until the drawing, where $2,000 will be given away! You can get Santa Bucks at most of the merchant locations in Tishomingo, so shop, shop, shop!

We will also be giving away our 6-Foot Family Stocking that day and for this you do not have to be present to win. Chances for this drawing are $1 each or 6 for $5 and the stocking includes a $100 Visa card, local restaurant, theatre, and salon gift certificates, board games, toys and more! You can purchase chances up until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Pocket Park or by stopping in the Chamber office or the Tishomingo Tag Agency. The Chamber greatly appreciates your support in our holiday initiatives and looks forward to seeing the happy faces of our winners!

I wanted to mention that are several locations in Tishomingo that are hiring, includes the City. They are needing employees for public works and the water plant, so please apply at City Hall, 1130 E. Main St. The City of Tishomingo is also under a burn ban at this time. If you have any questions, call 580-371-2369.
