Diamond Spring Wind will create jobs and generate an entirely new source of long-term revenue for local schools, government services, and property owners. The total direct financial impact to the region is likely to be in the millions of dollars over about 30 years, with additional indirect economic benefits greatly exceeding that number.

Revenue from this project would inject millions of dollars into Murray, Johnston & Pontotoc Counties economy to support local merchants, contractors, and equipment suppliers. The power from Diamond Spring Wind will be delivered into the Oklahoma electrical grid, helping to diversify Oklahoma’s energy portfolio.

ALLETE Clean Energy Wind Investments

ALLETE Clean Energy is now developing the approximately 300-megawatt Diamond Spring wind site in Oklahoma, where it will enter the commercial and industrial power market by selling power to Walmart, Starbucks and Smithfield Foods; and the 106-megawatt Glen Ullin Energy Center wind farm in North Dakota and the 80-megawatt South Peak wind farm in Montana to sell power to utility customers under long-term power sale agreements. Glen Ullin and South Peak are expected to be completed in 2019, with Diamond Spring scheduled to be completed in 2020.
