Sulphur cabin rental firm is member of local chamber – Published in the Sept. 5-11 edition of the Johnston County Sentinel

This week’s Member Spotlight is on Buckhorn Road Cabin Rentals! Mike and Janie Hardoin moved to Sulphur 17 years ago. Their home sits next to a creek and the couple decided to develop vacation cabins on the other side of it as something fun for them to do and as a retirement investment. The Hardoins, who also own Mike Hardoin Construction, opened two small cabins the weekend of July 4, 2011, later built a larger third rental, and are considering the construction of a fourth. They do their own maintenance and lawn care, cleaning and decorating.

The cabins come with some amenities you might expect like sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels; queen size beds and sofa beds; a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and electric skillet; a charcoal grill and picnic table. The Buckhorn Road Rentals have fences around them and parking areas for boats or other recreational vehicles and are located just 1-mile from Arbuckle Lake with hiking, boating, fishing, and swimming, and 5-miles from downtown Sulphur.

The cabins are nestled among blackjack, oak, and pecan trees and are frequently visited by various species of wildlife including deer, turkeys, rabbits, and the like. Janie says she notices her guests can often be found sitting on the front porch of the cabin, taking in the peaceful, ‘quiet side’ of the lake.

There is no minimum night rental – one nighters are welcome! The two small cabins that sleep four each rent for $100 per night, while the larger that sleeps six goes for $125 per night. At Buckhorn Cabin Rentals, guests are treated like friends. “People come from all of the United States to stay with us. They want to unwind and enjoy the peaceful country living that so many of us take for granted. Our guests come for reunions, weddings, honeymoons, graduations and anniversaries, too.”

Buckhorn Road Cabin Rentals are located at 809 Buckhorn Road in Sulphur, Oklahoma and can be booked by calling Janie at 580-622-6899 or 580-421-5157.
