THS Alumni Association to host annual reunion June 23 – Published in the June 21 – 27 edition of the JC Sentinel

Hello, hello readers! This week I am excited to Spotlight the Tishomingo High School Alumni Association, as they have a very special event coming up this weekend that you should consider attending if you’re able. The Association is made up of past graduates of Tishomingo who want to give back to the community by the way scholarships and events that promote fellowship and comradery.

First, on Friday, June 22, there will be a golf scramble held at the Tishomingo Golf Course which will begin as a shotgun start at 6:00 PM. Registration will be held from 5:00-5:30. Players will shoot 9 holes and then will be fed a crawfish dinner, followed by an additional 9 holes. The fun of golfing will be paired by live music featuring Strongwood and the Rick Hodges Band, which you are welcome to listen, visit, and dance along with.

On Saturday evening, alumni are encouraged to attend the Annual Alumni Banquet at the Chickasaw Community Center on 6th Street. A meal, dessert and drinks will be provided free of charge to those in attendance, all catered by Mike Vandivier! Check in will begin at 5:00 PM and there will be time to visit and look at the silent auction items until the meal is served at 6:30. All money raised funds scholarships that are given to graduating seniors of THS. The awards ceremony and business meeting will start at 7:30 PM, where one particular award that I have been made aware of will be presented – Alumni of the Year, Ray Lokey.

You may register for either event online at tishomingoalumniassociation.org. All donations are greatly appreciated. Please contact Kenny Emerson, Mike Hamilton, or Lorry Essary for more information.

Well we are just a week out from this year’s Red, White and Boom Celebration! The Chamber and event committee have been planning for weeks and we’re ready for the fun part! If you haven’t yet, please send me your parade entry forms so that we can get a lineup created in advance. Please note that we will be awarding the Yankee Doodle Dandy Awards at the program that begins at 7:00 PM. We are still hoping that there are some organizations out there that would like to set up small activities for kids, maybe face painting or a water game. We will have two large water slides for the older kids and some small plastic pools for the little ones. The fireworks are going to be absolutely fantastic again this year, but the best seats are the bleachers of the football field – bring the entire family, blankets to sit on, and enjoy this year’s Martin Marietta & Vulcan Materials Company Fireworks Display! Chamber volunteers will be working the concession stand and will have hot dogs, chips, drinks and candy available, so have dinner with us! We can’t wait to see you there!
